Barbara E. Champion, age 68

     Barbara E. Champion, age 68, of Forest City, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015.

     Born July 9, 1946 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Julius McMurry and Mary Estelle Watson McMurry. She was a graduate of RS-Central, class of 1965 and a member of West Point Baptist Church. Barbara worked for Burlington Industries for many years and as a CNA for Henderson Care for several years.  She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden and sewing.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn McMurry and brother-in-law, Sam Smith.

     Survivors include three sons, Billy Champion and wife, Barbara of Forest City, Chris Champion and wife, Janet of Ellenboro, Timothy Champion and wife, Julie of Gilkey; two daughters, Glenda Sheldon and husband, Bernard of Forest City and Mary Campfield of Henrietta; three sisters, Lorene Odell and husband, Donald of Forest City, Florence Tesseneer of Forest City and Lillie Smith of Ellenboro. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

     Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043.

     Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. There will be a private interment at Eternal Hills Memorial Park on a later date.
