Charles Thomas Butler, age 93

Charles Thomas Butler, age 93, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014.  

He was born Nov. 21, 1920 in Avondale & was a son of the late Oscar Spain Butler & Mary Wilkerson Butler.  Charles was longtime resident of Greer, SC where he worked for City Tire & Dobbins True Value Hardware. He was a member & former church treasurer at Victor Baptist Church in Greer.  In 2006 he and his wife moved to Rutherford County where they were members of First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Jenkins Butler, daughter, Donnice Butler Abernethy, & sisters, Elizabeth Butler Holcombe, Merle Butler Bostian, Addaleen Butler Street & Vivian Butler Hudson.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Leigh Anna Engkaninan & husband Jonathan, Suzanna Wilcox and husband John, & Andrew Charles Abernethy & wife Sabrina, great-grandchildren, Collin Sparks, Olivia Wilcox, Anna Abernethy, & Kate Abernethy; his sister, Evelyn Butler Shows & Husband Jim, Sister-In-Law, Colleen Jenkins Biggerstaff, & Brother-In-Law, Norman Jenkins & wife Betty.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Rutherfordton with Reverend Timothy A. Marsh officiating.  Entombment was held in the Hillcrest Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Greer, South Carolina.
