Donnis Wilkerson Smith Connor, age 67, of Forest City passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014.  

She was born April 7, 1947 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Millard & Lillian Estelle McFarland Wilkerson. She retired from the Dietary Department at Rutherford Regional Medical Center & was currently working for Ace Equipment Rentals in Rutherfordton. 

Donnis was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church where she was a member of the Crestview Choir, and served as Assistant Choir Director.  She also served on various committees in the church, was former Assistant Church Secretary & Sunday school teacher. Donnis was a graduate of East Rutherford High School Class of 1965. Her first husband, Jack Parmer Smith, her second husband, David Connor, & sister Annette Wilkerson Marks preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Chrissy Smith of Forest City, step sons, Dale Smith & wife Janice of Rutherfordton, Tommy Smith & wife Kim of Mooresboro, step-daughters Cathey Smith Williams & husband Alvin of Green Hill, Tanya Smith Owens of Lyman, 2 brothers, Leroy Wilkerson of Panama, FL, Wylie Wilkerson of Forest City, 2 sisters, Joyce Owens of Spindale, & Visita Martin of Heath Springs, SC. Grandchildren, Becky Smith McCall, Bryan Travis Smith, Mickela Smith Mitchell, Shannon Williams Clark, Beth Williams Crain, Sara Ashley Smith, Clinton Owens, Erica White and Kimerson Grace Smith, great-grandchildren, Seth McCall, Morgan McCall, Bailey McCall, Madison Smith, Jackson Smith, Eric Mitchell, Kate Mitchell, Gavin Clark, Sam Clark, Karson Johnson, Kayman Smith, Caden Ayers, and Coltston Owens.

Funeral services were held at Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating.  Graveside services were held in the Alexander Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund, 630 S. Church Street, Forest City, NC 28043.  

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
