Grover "Monroe" Ensley, age 78

Grover "Monroe" Ensley, age 78, of Cliffside, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017.

Born June 14, 1939 in Rutherford County, he was son of the late John Frank Ensley and Ozelle Smith Ensley. He was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1957 and worked for Lithium FMS Corporation for thirty-five years before retirement. Monroe was a faithful member of Cliffside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in many other capacities. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as deer hunting, fishing and gardening. Monroe was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Ensley Turner. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Midgie White Ensley; one daughter, Melissa E. Cantrell and husband, Mike of Forest City; a son, Mitchell S. Ensley and wife, Mitzi of Cliffside; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Herman Turner of Caroleen and sister-in-law, Barbara Matheny along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations are respectfully requested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or to Cliffside Baptist Church, PO Box 336, Cliffside, NC 28024

The funeral service was conducted at the Cliffside Baptist Church. Rev Mike Elgin and Rev Larry Fleming officiated. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
