Janie Lancaster, age 59

Janie Lancaster, age 59, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014.

Born December 6, 1954 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Jessie Lancaster & Ollie Mae Dills Lancaster. Janie was a homemaker and a talented artist. She also enjoyed reading and flower gardening.  She was of the Baptist faith and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and special sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first born son, Darby Lee Mullinax & a sister, Janice Lancaster Emory.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis “Skip” Babb; daughter, Tonya Mullinax of Chesnee, SC; son, Denver Mullinax of Rutherfordton; honorary daughter, Jennifer Metcalf; sister, Michele Lancaster Dorsey & husband, Mark of Rutherfordton; brother, Gary Lancaster & wife, Louise of Shelby; 10 grandchildren, Lucas Mullinax, Savannah Pierce, Lucky Pierce, Kierston Mullinax, Jesse Mullinax, Conner Mullinax, Hannah Mullinax, Jean-Lee Mullinax, Trenton Mullinax, Jerimiah Mullinax; 3 honorary grandchildren, Brittany Hill, Jordan Metcalf, Emily Metcalf & a host of nieces and nephews. 

A private celebration of Janie’s life was conducted Mon., Nov. 3, 2014.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043.
