Nell Greene, age 85

Nell Greene, age 85, of Henrietta, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015.

Born March 21, 1930 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late John Callahan and Elisabeth Reavis Callahan. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1947 and worked for Burlington Mills for over twenty years before retirement. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Henrietta and was active in visiting shut-ins. Nell was also a Hospice Volunteer for several years and enjoyed being a caregiver to the sick and elderly. She loved her family being together and especially Sunday dinners.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Jack Callahan and three sisters, Louise Greene, Margaret Norman, Betty Jones and three grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Limerick and husband, Johnny of Henrietta; five sons, Roger Lowery and wife, Shelby of Shenandoah, Virginia, Mike Lowery and wife, Sondra, Ronnie Lowery, Phil Lowery all of Henrietta and Wayne Lowery and wife, Kim of Bostic; four step-sons, Jimmy Greene and wife, Janice of Danieltown, Jerry Greene, Keith Greene, Ronnie Greene and wife, Audra all of Rutherfordton. She is also survived by life-long friends, Mabel Randolph, Ruth Whitaker and Betty Ray; nineteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church of Henrietta with Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Randy Church officiating. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Johnny McCarty officiating.

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. The family wishes to thank the caregivers who cared for Nell with much love, Renee Limerick, Emily and Sheila.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
