Opal Lewis Beaver, age 86, of Forest City passed away Monday 18, 2015.

Born February 5, 1929 in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late John Edwards and Agnes Lewis Edwards. Opal worked for Doncaster-Tanner for over thirty years and enjoyed traveling, crocheting and cooking for her family. She will always be known as a sweet, caring and kind hearted lady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of forty-two years, J.D. Beaver; one brother, Ted Lewis and son-in-law, Gerard Harmeyer.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Taub and husband, Steve of Forest City, Lyn Harmeyer of Rutherfordton, Cheryl Hutchins and husband, Steve of Sandy Mush and Bonita Butler and husband, Wayne of Shelby. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service was conducted at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with the eulogy being given by her daughter, Lyn Harmeyer.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
