Tom Tipton, age 74

     Tom Tipton, age 74, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015.

     Born February 18, 1941 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Gaston Tipton and Mamie Grant Tipton. Tom worked as a welder for Daniel Construction for many years and as a pipefitter for Duke Energy for several years. He was of the Baptist Faith and was an avid North Carolina Tar Heel and Atlanta Braves fan.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, J.L. “Prink” Tipton; three half brothers, Alex, Lonzo and Ted Abernathy.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Morrow Tipton; a host of nieces and nephews which includes special nephew, Chris Dycus; two sister-in-laws, Linda Vallecillo and Susie Dycus both of Forest City.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment followed in Alexander Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043.
