39th ANNUAL Hilltop Festival!

   This Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m.  the top of the hill in Rutherfordton is the place to be. The 39th Annual Fall Festival will have some new additions. One is the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce's  "Minute To Win It" Game on the Courthouse Lawn and the other is The Firehouse Inn's sponsoring of a Quilt Exhibit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will be displayed throughout the Inn and courtyard.

   Of course, the best part of this popular event is that it's free! Of course, there will be food vendors and crafts people with their creations. However, the music and games and especially Truman's Playland from KidsvilleNews is the youngsters favorite feature. Included again this year is also: Overmountain Victory Trail 5K Fun Run; Tour de Pumpkin; Live Music on the Courthouse stage featuring Rambling Gypsies at 11:15 a.m., Old 74 Jazz Band at 1:15 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m. Triad! The Street Entertainment begins at 10:05 a.m. with the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Dance Project. The Dancin' Stars and IGA Gymnastics will perform at 11:30 a.m. followed by Ray Rice Martial Arts at 1 p.m. and the Little Broadway Dancers at 2 p.m. The Chamber's "Minute To Win It" will be played on the hour every hour at Courthouse and Main with lots of great prizes. Oh, and let's not forget at 10:45 a.m. the Pet Costume Contest hosted by Paws & Purrs!  Wow! What a constant entertaining schedule!

   On block after block on Main Street and side streets there will be over 100 merchants, vendors, arts and crafts people lining the streets. BBQ, burgers, cup cakes, turkey legs, funnel cakes, cool drinks, ice cream and more will be offered.

   This event is always sponsored by Rutherford Town Revitalization and headed by Cindy Adair. It's purpose is to create a positive economic on downtown Rutherfordton. If you have ever been there you know you don't want to miss it. If this Saturday is your very first time - you and the family are definitely in for a big treat!
