A family remembers

All relatives of the late Captain Wilbur Burgin, this family gathered around a bench of First Wesleyan placed in the captain's memory Saturday after younger brother, Max Burgin received the Order Of The Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina's highest civilian honor. The family members are from left to right, sister Bette Gettys, grandson Simon, son Eddie, grandson Max Edward (named for his grandfather,) grandson Nathan, Max and Bette's daughter Bobbie King. Burgin was honored also with a tribute from the trustees of Mars Hill University presented by Vice President Bud Christman, Rutherford County Commissioner Eddie Holland, Forest City Commissioner Shawn Moore, Roger Kumpf who represented Congressman Patrick McHenry and a letter from Sen. Tom Tillis.
