Sister Bella, Noah, and Mom Chastity at the Make-A-Wish Dinner.
His name is Noah Roy Champion. He was born on July 9, 2002. Today he is one of the most happy boys you’ll ever meet. He is in the third grade, on the honor roll, and is doing exceptionally well. Noah loves history and wants to become a history professor. He has a 16 month old sister named Bella. If you spend some time with Noah, you come away feeling better. He has that effect. This happy kid makes you love life and smile a lot!

Now, Noah Champion is going to Disney World. The “Make A Wish Foundation” is sponsoring him. Prior to going to Disney World, they wanted to take him out to dinner and asked him where he wanted to go. Noah replied “Marios!”. That’s where I caught up with him on Friday, November 11. He, his family and the “Make A Wish” sponsors were all having dinner. He looked great! He even had a special hair gel look. Noah is not only happy all the time, but enthusiastic. If he isn’t smiling, he’s laughing. He just loves life! If you spend some time with him you start to feel good all over.

Noah Roy Champion has good reason to love life! He’s a very grateful and thankful young man. This is an inspirational and great Thanksgiving story. You must understand that it wasn’t always the way it is now.

When his mother was pregnant with him, the news was not good. At five months, after an ultra sound, the doctors saw trouble. His mom, Chastity, was told that there were problems - lots of problems. They were so bad that the doctors told her that she could abort if she so choose. Chastity did not like that alternative. She was told the little boy she was carrying had a rare, genetic birth defect which affects about 1 in 40,000 births. About 97% of those affected are male. Her son had Prune Belly Syndrome. It is a congenital disorder of the urinary system characterized by a triad of symptoms. So much is malfunctioning and so many problems arise from it that it’s overwhelming. The odds for a normal life seemed insurmountable. The complications after he was born required a lot of time and 15 operations to repair, redirect and do everything to make him function as normal as possible. On May 13, 2004 almost two years after his birth and countless operations, Noah had a much needed kidney transplant. His kidneys were nonfunctional and he was on dialysis constantly. His kidney donor turned out to be a friend of the family, Ryan Farr. What a blessing! Since then, he has been constantly monitored. There has been no rejection. His one kidney is doing the much needed job. Finally, after years of constant care, prayer and hope, he’s a very happy nine year old. He still has blood work once a month. He’s no longer in the hospital where he spent the first three years of his life. His mother will say: “He is a blessing in my life.”  The Make A Wish Foundation has granted him his wish and he’s going to Disney World for a week.

Noah loves chicken tenders and fries, funnel cakes, Goofy and Mickey Mouse and “The Pirates Of The Caribbean”. To say that he is normal is an understatement. His energy level is very high.

There is no doubt that he is a very special person. Surely, God loves him a lot. He is a survivor and that attests to his loving family and friends. This Thanksgiving, Noah has a lot to be thankful for as does everyone around him.

Should you ever feel sorry for yourself, meet Noah! You’ll come away feeling better than you have in years - maybe in a lifetime! I feel very fortunate that I had the chance to meet this amazing person. If you’re very lucky maybe you will meet him too.
