Alan Cary Greenley, age 80, of Hilton Head, SC, Lake Lure, NC, and formerly, Naperville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

Alan Cary Greenley, age 80, of Hilton Head, SC, Lake Lure, NC, and formerly, Naperville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

He was the son of the late Charles Landis Greenley and Ruth Jemison Greenley. Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia E. Greenley.

He graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Carnegie-Mellow University with a BS in Administration and Management Science, and earned his MBA from Northwestern University. He was a veteran having served in the US Air Force Reserves. He worked for Bethlehem Steel and retired from the Amoco Corporation in 1998 after thirty-three years. Some of his more recent passionate activates included teaching courses for the Literacy Volunteers of America as a GED instructor and traveling abroad.

Survivors include a son, David Patrick Greenley and wife Geneva of Forest City, NC; a daughter, Alison Greenley Lloyd and her husband Charles Lloyd, Jr. of Chapin, SC and three grandchildren, Patrick Lloyd, Callie Lloyd, and Ellie Greenley.

                  A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 25, 3pm at the Fairfield Mountain Chapel in Lake Lure, NC, with the Reverend Everette Chapman officiating. A reception will follow for friends and family in the church fellowship hall.
