Alfred Lee Poteet, 97

Alfred Lee Poteet, 97, passed away on February 24, 2019.

He was born on December 9, 1921 in Cleveland County to the late Elbert Sidney Poteet and Mattie Webb Poteet. Alfred was formerly from the Sandy Mush community and was a member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran with the US Navy and received 2 purple hearts.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his two wives Inez Varner Poteet and Betty Hoots Poteet, one brother Charles Elbert Poteet and one sister Catherine P. Whitman.

He is survived by three daughters: Susan Brown of Forest City, Burma H. Poteat and husband Steve of Gaffney, SC, and Donna H. Robertson of Mt. Holly. He also leaves behind two grandsons, two granddaughters, as well as two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, one nephew and five nieces. He will be greatly missed but left us with many precious memories.

A memorial service to celebrate Lee's life was held at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside.
