Annie Horton Jones, of Winston-Salem, passed away on June 11, 2017.

She was born April 21, 1927, to the late Albert and Emma Horton. Annie was one of eleven children. She grew up in Rutherford County, and moved to Winston-Salem in 1954. Here she raised her family with her husband, Corbett Jones (deceased). Always a loving mother, she put her children's needs before her own. She was a woman of strong Christian faith and brought up her daughters to love the Lord. Annie loved nature and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. She was a talented seamstress and took pleasure in making things for her family. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and keeping the home. She was employed by ElderCare as a private duty CNA and worked at the Blumenthal Jewish Home caring for long term patients. She had a gift for providing compassionate care for the elderly and was cherished by her patients. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters: Judy Simmons (Robert); Myra Neal (Tim); Alisa Royall (Tim) and Melody Southern (Landon); a sister, Ruth Dysart of Greenville, NC; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much. The family would like to thank all of Mama's caregivers. A special thank you to: Felicia, Demetria, Erin, Mary and Kim. The family would like to acknowledge the special care and guidance provided by Kate B. Reynolds Hospice South team.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church in Ellenboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice.

Cremation Services of Winston-Salem served the family.
