Annual event brings women together to help each other

Women in Rutherford and surrounding counties are invited to once again live, love and laugh during the RHI Legacy Foundation’s annual Women Together women’s event. The 2015 event is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 10am until 1pm at the Performing Arts and Conference Center at Isothermal Community College. 

The purpose of Women Together, says Jill Miracle, executive director of the RHI Legacy Foundation, is to provide grant funds to support cancer prevention, treatment and support services in our county. Proceeds will be used for services such as mammograms for uninsured women and assistance for cancer patients who experience financial difficulties as a result of their treatment and recovery. 

“Every penny that we raise from this event stays within our county and provides health services for local women,” Miracle explains. 

Guest speaker for the 2015 Women Together is Sharon Kiser. Kiser is an inspirational speaker and novelist who will speak about the important role that women play in the life of a community. Kiser has had more than 70 magazine articles published as well as a novel, “That End of Lilac Lane.” She has been a keynote speaker for church and civic conferences and seminars. 

Rutherford county pianist David Roach will provide music before and during the brunch, which is being catered by Larkin’s on the Lake. The “Men for Mammos” will return again this year to serve and entertain guests. The “Men for Mammos” will accept cash tips, which will also go toward the event proceeds. 

“Women Together has a theme of Living, Loving and Laughing,” Miracle continued. “We know that our Men for Mammos will charm our ladies and handle the laughing part of the day. Our guest speaker will speak about the love that women bring to a community. Our attendees come because they know their support may save a life by providing a mammogram or a service to a cancer patient.” 

Reservations for Women Together are $36; a table for eight may be reserved for $288 which represents one mammogram for an uninsured woman. Reservations may be made online at rhilegacyfoundation.org or by calling 828-286-5070.
