   This is the story I chose to close out the year 2010. It is a story about a man and his mission. It's a story about dedication and a meaningful purpose to achieve. It exemplifies what can be done when a committed community comes together. This is the story of the new Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Forest City and the accomplishment of its congregation. It is truly amazing!

   Hospice of Rutherford County is bringing well-known Alzheimer’s expert Teepa Snow to the Carolina Event and Conference Center January 25 from 9 am until 4 pm.

Mr. Barnie G. “Dickie” Epps, 66, of Cliffside, NC passed away Monday, December 20, 2010. A Memorial Service was held at Harrelson Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Bill Huntley, 80, of Bat Cave, NC passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010. A Memorial Service was held at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel, Caroleen, NC.

Mrs. Ethel Mae Morrison Ensley, 84, of Oak Grove Health Care Center, Rutherfordton, NC passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Services were held at Southern Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hazel Upton Greene, 83, of 149 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 26, 2010. A Memorial Service was held at Chase Baptist Church.

Mrs. Karen Schoeppner Andrews, 60, of Sumter, SC passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Sumter, SC.

Mrs. Ruth Vess Tyler, 80, of Shelby, NC passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010. Services were held at Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Caroleen-Henrietta Cemetery.

Ms. Shirley Jean Jones Gross, 81, of Forest City, NC passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Services were held at Crowe’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rutherfordton, NC. Burial followed in Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

   As you get older you begin to see who you really are. You notice those things that you are good at and those things that are diffi cult. You also notice trends in your life that you can either deny and ignore or admit and use to become the person you are meant to be. Some of these trends need to be changed while others simply give a more accurate picture of one’s strengths and weaknesses.
