   Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park welcomes Michael Rogers as the new Climbing Director at Fox Mountain Guides, the Park’s exclusive climbing partner. As Director, Rogers is the primary rock climbing guide at Chimney Rock and is in charge of promotions and hosting climbing events at the Park, as well as being a liaison with Park staff. Fox Mountain Guides is the only AMGA-Certified program in the Southeast and is known for having some of the most highly-trained and certified guides in the region.

How are you introduced?

I had the privilege of speaking at an event sponsored by one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the U.S.  Typically someone introduces me at these events and they ask me to provide a script.  In it, I write about what I do and who I am—but not the usual boring list of educational degrees and accomplishments, but more about me as a person; as a father of two daughters and that my wife boards horses and raises yellow Labrador retrievers.

   A free mobile phone application with comprehensive information about North Carolina’s state parks has been introduced by the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation in partnership with Friends of State Parks and ParksByNature Network, a developer of mobile, interactive networks.

   The downloadable Pocket Ranger Mobile Tour Guide for Apple iPod and iPhone and Adroid smartphones allows visitors to plan and explore state parks with details readily at hand about park locations, trails, facilities, reservations, events and special news alerts.
