Rutherford Weekly Sports Special: Tyler White
We have seen some kids from the county go off and play college ball, but we can add another successful one to that list in Chase High graduate, Tyler White.

White, who is in his third year at Western Carolina University plays baseball for the Catamounts and also helped Chase to one of its best seasons in 2009 with a 15-8 record and a third round 2A playoff appearance. Last summer, he topped off a great season with the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League by helping them win the CPL title.

In NCAA play at WCU, White hasn’t backed off from being a dangerous threat at the plate.

Listen To Life
Is your life like lasagna

My wife makes the best lasagna you’ve ever eaten. I watched her make it once.  She prepares her sauce with secret ingredients that I can’t tell you about or she’d have to kill me. She mixes together all of these cheeses. Then she carefully layers all of these ingredients in her special lasagna dish. It’s the layering that attracted my attention.

She puts a layer of noodles, then sauce, then cheese. And she cooks it all together, layer upon layer, until it’s done.

Outdoor Truths

Outdoor Truths
Another turkey season has all but ended. There’s just a few more days left. It has been a really weird season. It seems the action started earlier this year perhaps because of the warmer than normal temperatures. Even before opening day the toms were strutting, gobbling, and running to the hens. Hunters had to trade their shotguns for binoculars. After opening day the action began as normal, but then a cold spell hit. After that it was as if their mouths were frozen shut – a few gobbles on the roost and then it seemed they moved throughout the day in silence. Just yesterday I watched a long-beard remain totally unaffected by my calling, even though he was without hens. I know, I know, that may say something about my ability to call, but it’s not like they ran off. They just remained uninterested. It’s funny that when you think you have gotten this hunting thing down, nature throws you a curve ball and reminds you how little you really know and how much what you do is determined by things you have no control over. That’s a mouthful of truth! And it goes for more important things than hunting as well.
