16th Annual Kids & Cops!
The 16th annual Kids & Cops happens Friday, June 21 at Dunbar Park in Forest City from 9am to noon and it’s all free! Acres and acres of displays will feature police cars, helicopters, fire trucks, rangers, and an endless number of law enforcement, firefighters and technicians from all over Western Carolina. “Show and Tell” booths will be all over the grounds.

White an Astro, Arizona Diamondbacks Win Big in MLB Draft

Last week, Tyler White was hoping to get a shot at the big leagues following his four-year effort of school and baseball career at Western Carolina University.

The former Chase High baseball standout received that nod as he became a part of the Houston Astros in the 33rd round of the Major League Baseball Draft over the weekend. While helping Western Carolina pick up the So-Con regular season title this season and becoming a Louisville Slugger All-American, being drafted by a major league team just made 2013 even sweeter for the Rutherford County native.
