Ellenboro Elementary's Colfax Free Fair has benefited Ellenboro High, Ellenboro School and Ellenboro Elementary since its beginning in the 1930s. This year the annual event, which serves as a fundraiser for the school, will be held Sept. 20-24 at the old Ellenboro School fairgrounds.

Nestled in the Gilkey Community Center is a program that provides food for approximately 400 families per month.

Last week was rough for Rutherford County on the gridiron as we went 1-3 with Thomas Jefferson (2-1, 0-1) as the only one to crack the win column.
