When Dr. Walter Ziffer speaks at the Mountain Branch Library in Lake Lure, it will be a rare opportunity for lovers of history and the human race. His talk is set for 3 p.m. on September 10.

The book of life began on August 19, 1931 for Mamie Toms Morris. She was born in Rutherford County, to William Spurgeon Toms and Lonnie Blanton Toms. She was the fourth child born into the family of six children.

Arnold Shehan of Forest City, passed away at the age of 90. Mr. Shehan was the son of the late Ivie and Bernice Huntley Shehan, and the husband of the late Hazel Fite Shehan.

Billy Eugene Turner, age 72 of Spindale passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019.

David Johnson age 72 of Forest City, passed away on August 24, 2019.

Henry Jenkins, Jr., age 76, of Mooresboro, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

James Arnold "Jim" Robbins, of Forest City, passed away August 20, 2019.

Tristan Bee Burnett, of Mill Springs, the son of John and Sara Burnett, was stillborn Friday, August 23, 2019, at Atrium Health Cleveland.

I'm getting a little excited about the upcoming deer season. After last year, I feel like I need to redeem myself. My friends are going to take my hunter card if I don't get in the woods more.
