Barbara Anne Wells Owens, age 85

Barbara Anne Wells Owens, age 85 of Bostic passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014.  

Born November 5, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio to Clyde J. & Zelda Coleman Wells. She graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, WV in 1947,  & she earned a BS at Marshall University in 1951.

She formerly resided in Huntington, WV, Milton, WV, in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania & Broomall, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Owens was a piano instructor  & served as organist at churches in WV, Pennsylvania,  & NC, including First Presbyterian Church Forest City  & Bethel Baptist Church Ellenboro.

She is survived by her husband, Clement Perry Owens of Bostic; a daughter, Dr. Rachel Owens of Daytona Beach, FL; a daughter, Martha Owens of Bostic; a grandson, Thomas Wilder of Swannanoa; a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Owens of Bostic and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Becky Stanley  & Reverend Dr. Joel Spencer officiating.  Interment followed the service in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro.  

Memorials may be made the First Baptist Church, 211 West Main St, Forest City, NC 28043.
