Time sure is flying, with the Forest City Owls back in swing. As a matter of fact, one-fourth of the season is now history.

The Forest City Owls (11-4) have been on a roll so far this season and three teams sit with 11 wins atop the Western half of the Coastal Plain League. There was a time this month where they had won seven in a row.

Veteran players from a year ago such as Connor Grant and Seth Hoagland have been hitting .400-plus so far and first year Owls prospect Carson Jones lead the team in RBIs with 12.

Alec Bivins leads a solid pitching staff with former R-S Central pitcher Connor Dailey and East Rutherford ace, Ethan Stewart among the group.

College World Series

One year ago, Coastal Carolina did the impossible by winning a National Title. This year, if Oregon State doesn't win it all, they may become the best college baseball team that didn't finish it off. So far, the Beavers sit (55-4) and they play to win. Just watch, they are really good.

I like the CWS, but it's still not quite the same without Rosenblatt Stadium. Louisville and Florida State are trying to give the ACC a chance to take the title. I actually like Louisville's chances to take on Oregon State in the title series as long as Florida doesn't derail that. Still, the Beavers are the team to beat. The last two times a team with less than 10 losses entered the college world series...won it all and that was Cal State Fullerton (57-9) in 1995 and Texas (59-6) back in 1975.
