Betty Boone Melton, age 92

Betty Boone Melton, age 92, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016.

Born on April 18, 1923 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Oscar Boone and Rosie Hayes Boone. She was a homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Betty worked in textiles for several years and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and dancing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Melton; one granddaughter, three brothers, Jack, Mack and Clark Boone; three sisters, Alice "Tib" Weese, Tiny Head and Frances Painter.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Melton and Chris Melton and wife, Cindy all of Ellenboro; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ad Hopper and Reverend Scott Butler officiating. Interment followed in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations are suggested to the charity of choice.
