Betty Hoyle Logan, age 89, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015.

She was a former longtime resident of Forest City, NC. Betty was born July 18, 1926 in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late Alex Hoyle and Evelyn Shytle Hoyle Hamrick and step daughter of the late Forrest Hamrick of Shelby. She was a graduate of Shelby High School and later graduated with a degree in business education from the University Of North Carolina at Greensboro and received her Master's degree from Appalachian State University. Betty first taught in the Kings Mountain Schools before moving to Rutherford County where she taught at Cool Springs High School and then at Gardner-Webb University where she retired as professor emeritus in the Business Education Department. Following her retirement Betty enjoyed volunteering in the Rutherford Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Forest City where she was a former Sunday School teacher, a longtime member of the choir and served in various leadership positions in the church. Her husband of sixty-two years, James Wells Logan, preceded her in death in 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Logan Mogge and her husband John of Tampa, FL, Nancy Logan Mack and her husband Rick of Lexington, NC, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, one great granddaughter; one niece, and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 12, 2015 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend J. Anthony Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Forsyth County -- Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Office, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
