Bo Bo Scruggs, Sr., age 94

Bo Bo Scruggs, Sr., age 94, of Forest City passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017.

A native of Rutherford county, he was the son of the late E. A. Scruggs and Ora Lowrance Scruggs. Bo Bo operated a grocery store with his wife June, at their home, for twenty years, moved houses for a Claude Lowery and also worked in construction for Cato Stores for a number of years, and later served as Executive Director of the Forest City Housing Authority. He served one term as a Town Councilman for the Town of Forest City and was a member of Florence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife June E. Scruggs of the home; a son, Bo Bo Scruggs, Jr. and wife Jackie; son-in-law, David Henson; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susie Henson, sisters, Madge Downey, Margaret Gurley, Madelyn Hawkins, and Betty Hartley, and brothers, Lawton Scruggs and wife Ruby, Perry Scruggs and wife Evelyne, and Ray Scruggs and wife Frances.

A memorial service was held in the Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment followed in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 S. Broadway Street, Forest City, NC 28043.
