Bobby Gene Jones, age 82

Bobby Gene Jones, age 82 of Forest City passed away Friday, September 16, 2016.

Bobby was born in Rutherford County on July 23, 1934 to his parents, the late Joe Lee Jones and Edna Mae Scruggs Jones. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church, a graduate of Cool Springs High School and an avid trout fisherman and camper. Bobby enjoyed working with Forest City Little League where he coached children for many years. He worked as a supervisor for Aeroquip Corporation where he retired. His sister, Joann King and grandson, Jason Houser preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Diane Robbins Jones, two sons, Mike Jones and wife Alysa of Forest City, Bill Jones and wife Loretta of Forest City, four daughters, Patti Sappenfield and husband Jeff of Bostic, Lisa Burleson and husband Mike of Forest City, Lori Houser and husband Ricky of Rutherfordton, and Susan Black and husband Tim of Kings Mountain. There are also sixteen grandchildren and Thirteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held in the Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm and Reverend David Hinkelman officiating. Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
