Breanna Cochran, a sixth grade student at Chase Middle School, is the Rutherford County Schools District Spelling Bee Champ for 2015.
Forty third through eighth grade students who were the top spellers at their schools took part in the Bee.
Placing second and third respectively were Lily Huffman, a third grade student at Pinnacle Elementary, and Daisy Fuller, a fourth grade student at Spindale Elementary.
Cochran now moves on to the 62nd Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee, scheduled for Feb. 29, 2016, at ImaginOn's Wachovia Playhouse in Charlotte.
