Carolyn Edgerton Gordon, age 74

Carolyn Edgerton Gordon, age 74, of Rutherfordton, passed away December 8, 2014.

Born October 31, 1940 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Nathan Wilbur Edgerton and Glendolyn Geer Edgerton. Carolyn and her late husband, Dean, were co-owners of Deans Produce Market for twenty-three years and she also worked as a private caretaker for the elderly for many years. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and enjoyed flower and plant gardening, fishing and arts & crafts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Dean Gordon and daughter, Robin York.

Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Williams, Rita Wyss and husband, Earl Joe, Jr. and Renee Wright and husband, Jeff all of Rutherfordton; one brother, Gary Edgerton and wife, Carolyn also of Rutherfordton; six grandchildren, David Williams, Jerimie Williams, Marcus Williams, Adam York, E.J. Wyss, Anya Wyss and two great-grandchildren, Emma Cobb-Williams and Trace Williams.

Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Scott Courtney and Reverend Ricky Owens officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
