East vs Central

On the boys side, R-S Central came roaring back to win 63-51 last week to snap the streak in the series. The Hilltoppers Zyrion Wilkins went off for 24 points after East had led nearly three-fourths of the game.

In the first half, East Rutherford's Quay Logan and Josh Searcy could do whatever they wanted offensively, but Central's second half defense, which allowed 19 points after the half prevailed for the Hilltoppers.

The two teams knotted twice in the third quarter until Central (11-4) took the lead for the first in the fourth. Once in the lead, it was all Central.

Two takeaways, East (10-5) is still pretty good and Central's depth might be the one thing that is going to make them a nightmare as the season continues to roll on.

R-S Central's girls played it's best game of the season, but East Rutherford (12-2) was still too much in a 65-52 Lady Cavalier victory. The surprising part may have been that Central could rebound with East and that they hung around for most of this one. East hit enough 3's and found inside presence Charmee Miller to be the biggest difference. Jada Logan maybe back from injury before the second meeting, so that sparks some intrigue among the Lady Hilltoppers. Aliyah Whiteside and Chloe Parton led the way for the Lady Hilltoppers last Friday.

R-S Central (6-9) will host South Point on Friday, while East host Chase on Friday.

NFL

Only eight teams remain to win the Super Bowl, here is how I see this weekend going. I went 2-2 last week. Of note, Carolina's season ended with a tough loss and that does put a big question mark on ownership for the Panthers since Richardson is selling the team.

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh

In the first meeting, Jacksonville won 30-9 after intercepting Big Ben five times and turning two of those into touchdowns. Ever since that time, the Steelers have been playing better.

The Jags defense is one of the best in the league while the Steelers offense is one of the best on the league. Something has to give. If Jacksonville can run the ball like they did in the first meeting, then the Steelers could be in trouble. Still, I think Pittsburgh survives 24-13.

Tennessee at New England

The Titans have a chance but they must shorten the game by running it and holding possession. While the Titans do have playmakers, New England's playoff magic is no joke. New England 31-14.

Atlanta at Philadelphia

Atlanta went on the road and beat a complete team that's been solid all year in the Rams. The Eagles haven't played so well lately, but they have had to use Nicke Foles during the last month of the season since Carson Wentz is out with injury. The Eagles defense is the catalyst. If they control the line of scrimmage, then they move on, but I think Atlanta is going to prove that the NFC South really is the best division this year. Atlanta 16-10.

New Orleans at Minnesota

The Vikings have two of three losses against the Panthers and the Lions. New Orleans is 4-0 against those two teams this year. Having the bye is big, but the Vikings haven't been in this big of a game in awhile. I like the Saints 31-21.
