Chamber Announces Local Funding for Local Businesses. We are soliciting indications of interest for a Community Development Credit Union (CDCU). The Credit Union would operate like any other Credit Union, except that the primary purpose would be to extend credit to member businesses in Rutherford County. CDCU’s provide reasonably priced financial services to those who would otherwise not have access (small businesses, start-ups, etc.) CDCU’s rarely compete with other financial institutions. In fact, many financial institutions sponsor CDCU’s. A CDCU generally makes smaller loans that larger institutions cannot profitably make. CDCU’s take deposits like any other Credit Union.
