Charles Hoyle “Red” Roper, age 77

Charles Hoyle “Red” Roper, age 77, husband of Ruth Smith Roper of Forest City passed away on Sunday September 29, 2013.

Hoyle was a native of Rutherford County, a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, a former National Guardsman, owner of Roper Loop Barber Shop and a retired funeral director for Crowe’s Mortuary.

   Hoyle was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Roper; his parents Burley and Wenona Lenora Kiser Roper, brothers Junior, Bobby, Flay, G.W., and Bill Roper; sisters Pat Beheler, Emma Jean Tipton, and Zora Lawing

    In addition to his wife there is left to cherish his memory a son Marty (Melissa) Roper of Fountain Inn, daughter Tammy (Bobby Jr.) Roper Dailey of Spartanburg, granddaughter Ginger Dailey of Spartanburg and a brother Norman Roper of Matthews.  

    A service to celebrate the life of Charles Hoyle “Red” Roper was held at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles McClure, Rev. Eric Reedy, Rev. Jim Caprell and Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery. 

  Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Creek Baptist Church 710 Mountain Creek Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139

  Crowe’s Mortuary & Crematory is assisting the Roper family.
