Chester Wood Walker, age 76

Chester Wood Walker, age 76, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

Chester was the son of the late Owen and Alyce Moore Walker. Survivors include his wife Carole Walker; sister Patricia Walker Jackson (Stanley); son Paul Walker (Michelle Yelton); daughter Shauna Kerkhoff (Scott); two granddaughters; one great grandchild; Stepsons Sean Jaynes and Andrew Jaynes (Catrina).

Chester was a 1960 graduate of RS Central High School, after graduation he severed for four years in the US Navy. Chester enjoyed his career as a car salesman and later fulfilled his lifelong dream of "becoming a truck driver" owning Walker Trucking. In later years, he was a car transport driver for area dealerships and had just returned from a trip when he passed away suddenly.

Chester was a man who loved his family and was always there for them to lend a helping hand. He had a friendly nature, a warm smile and good sense of humor. He was a member of Gilkey United Methodist Church, a former Sunday school teacher and a deacon.

Services were held at Gilkey United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
