Clarence G. Lovelace, age 91, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

Clarence was born August 3, 1922 to the late Clifford and Gazzie Lovelace.  He was a graduate of Sunshine High School, class of 1939 and served in the US Army during World War II with Patton’s 7th Army.  Clarence worked at Stonecutter Mill for many years and for Winn-Dixie for fifteen years.  He was a faithful lifetime member of Smith Grove Baptist Church and served as Choir Director. He enjoyed Southern Gospel music and was a past member of several local gospel quartets.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lorene Hudlow Lovelace and five brothers.

Survivors include daughter, Wanda Blanton and husband, Sam of Forest City; son, Guy Lovelace and wife, Melanie of Norwalk, CA; two sisters, Dorothy Norville of Spindale and Marjorie Street of Ellenboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nathan Blanton, Greta Walker, Zeke Blanton, Lisa Pruett, Kim Ramirez, Melissa Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Pruett and Brannon Pruett; four great step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brown, Kayla Ramirez, Annika Ramirez and Isabella Ramirez.

Funeral services were conducted at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Terry White officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
