Claude Hicks Jones, age 80

Claude Hicks Jones, age 80 of Forest City passed away Monday, October 13, 2014.  

He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Blake & Annie Mae Ford Jones. He was a graduate of Bethware High School in Kings Mountain & a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, Bostic,  where he served as a Deacon. Hicks retired from Piedmont Mechanical in Spartanburg and for many years operated service stations in Forest City.  He was also the owner of Jones Concessions where for 30 years he & his wife sold concessions. 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sue Putnam Jones, 2 daughters, Donna Jones McGinnis & husband David of Forest City, Trena Jones Roper & husband Donald of Boiling Springs, SC, & a brother, Frank Jones of Tennessee. There are 4 grandchildren, Shea McMahan, Kyle Radford, Adam Roper, & Kristin Roper as well as 4great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Glenwood Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Toney & Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating.
