No doubt, the game of the week is at East Rutherford. First, all four football teams in Rutherford County won last Friday. We have to go back to August 26th of 2016 when that last happened. Every school is also at home this Friday night.

Burns (1-1) at East Rutherford (3-0)

East Rutherford won last week, but in a 70-44 shootout at South Caldwell. Calvin Jones, Jayden Waddell, Demetrius Mauney and Cameron Simmons ran for 380 yards this past weekend, but they now get a big test from Burns.

It's a rivalry, but East is allowing 33 points a game right now, while Burns just allowed Shelby 14 in an upset over the Golden Lions last week. East Rutherford is averaging 55 points a game. So, something has to give.

This has to be the best team they have had since 2005, although last year wasn't too bad either.

East is good enough to win, but when you beat a team like Shelby, all the momentum is with the Bulldogs. Burns was off to a slow start last year, but they still beat East in Lawndale. Burns 32-28

East Henderson (2-1) at Chase (1-2)

Chase finally earned their first victory of the season as they easily defeated Bessemer City 38-7 last week. While they started down 7-0, they completely took over after that as Kaden Hampton scored three touchdowns and Kayshawn Woods added two more. Chase was fairly balanced on offense as they rushed and passed for nearly 190 yards each way.

This week, they have East Henderson, led by the rushing attack of Zay Henderson and the passing of Garrett Adkinson. Last week, the Eagles suffered a 42-13 loss to West Henderson and it was the Trojans only victory last year. If Chase can just settle early and play like they did against Bessemer City, they should be okay in this one. Chase 34-13

Trinity Academy (TN) (1-2) at Thomas Jefferson (2-0)

The Gryphons looked better in Week 3 as they beat Chatham Central 54-13.

Trinity fell to Mitchell last week by 24 and it really wasn't even that close. Mitchell ran for over 260 yards last week. Just run Tommy run! Thomas Jefferson 36-20

Pisgah (3-0) at R-S Central (1-2)

R-S Central's defense allowed just 60 yards to Polk County in the second half as they capitalized on Polk's mistakes and injuries for a 13-12 win last Friday. Bryson Flynn's third quarter run got them on the board first, but it was the emergence of Xavier Toms that pushed Central to the win. Central also won the turnover battle 3-1, which has not been the case over the previous two weeks.

Pisgah comes to town this week and running back Jon Mehaffey is the heart of the team, but they trust quarterback Korey Griffith to toss the pigskin around too. This week could also be the game of whose defense can play better. Central is allowing just 19 points a game, while Pisgah is giving up just 8. Pisgah 27-7
