Cleo Humphries Grose, age 96

Cleo Humphries Grose, age 96 formerly of Forest City passed away Friday, October 24, 2014.  

She was born August 3, 1918 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late W. L. Humphries and Emma Parrish Humphries.  She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and worked with Civil Service during World War II.  She had also worked as a Social Worker with the Rutherford County Department of Social Services. Cleo retired from the Rutherford County Home Extension Office.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Grose in 1969, brothers, Shuford Humphries who died in World War II, and Wilbur Humphries, and sisters, Ruby Crowder, Louise Street Womack and Macie Humphries Bailey.

Survivors include a brother, John Foy Humphries of Forest City as well as nieces and nephews in North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Maryland and Michigan.

The funeral service was held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Terry White officiating.  Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
