What: Open House and Adoption Event

When: March 9, 10am-2pm

Where: RC Animal Control Facility, 578 Laurel Hill Drive, Rutherfordton

More Info: Free refreshments. Free raffle, anyone who is 18 years and older will receive a free ticket for attending. Come out and see all the positive changes that have been made and meet all the loving pets up for adoption. Please do not bring any pets to the event.

What: The 096 Prison Chaplaincy Committee will meet for its general business and Annual meeting

When: March 13, 7:30am, Commissioners Room.

Where: Rutherford County Annex, 289 North Main Street, Rutherfordton.

More Info: The Committee sponsors and supports Three Chaplains, religious services and inmate support at the County Jail and State minimum security prison on Ledbetter Road. All are invited to attend this meeting to learn more about our Ministry and perhaps become part of it.

What: Spring Toy Run, Toys for Tots. Sponsored by US Marine Corps Reserve

When: March 30, registration at 10am. 1st bike out at 11:30am. $15 single rider, $20 double rider or a new unwrapped toy.

HOPE Grief Support Group: Free for any adult who's lost a loved one. At Hospice Charles and Annette Cash Whitaker Center of Living, 374 Hudlow Rd, Forest City. 828-245-0095.

NAMI South Mountains NC (National Alliance on Mental Illness): Weekly Family Support Group Tuesdays 5:30pm. NAMI P.E.A.C.E. Community Center, 124 S. Powell St., Suite D, Forest City. Group for those who have family members who are dealing with mental illness.

Annual Coat Drive: Gilkey School Community Center Annual Coat Drive. If you have any coats give us a call. Also taking Blankets, Sheets, Gloves, & Toboggans. For deliver or pickup contact. Gail 828-287-4830, Hilda 828-287-5673 or Kay 828-286-1172.

PAWS of Rutherford County: Free spay/neuter for all RC Bully Breeds & for other breeds whose owners are on public assistance. We have dog houses, food, & straw for those in need. If you have any dog houses you'd like to donate, call. If you need to re-home your pet or have a litter of puppies, we may be able to help. Check with us before taking to Animal Control.
