Memory Makers Alzheimer/Dementia Community Resource/Support Group: This group is for family, caregivers, friends, or anyone in the community who needs the support. Meetings held the last Thursday of each month at 4pm. Rutherford Town Hall, 129 North Main Street, Rutherfordton. 828-980-4362 or 828-980-1034.

Chase Corner Ministries: FREE USDA Food every Wednesday from 9am-2pm. Families who receive this food may only get it every other month. You must be a Rutherford County resident and meet income requirements to qualify. 828-247-0096.

Sons of Confederate Veterans: Lt. William Corbitt Camp #525 invites you to visit with us every 3rd Friday at the County Annex Building; 289 N. Main St., Rutherfordton. Meet at 6:30pm for refreshments and 7pm meeting. 828-305-8654 or 828-287-3412.

HOPE Grief Support Group: Free support group for any adult who has lost a loved one. Offered at the Hospice Charles and Annette Cash Whitaker Center of Living, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City. 828-245-0095.

NAMI South Mountains NC (National Alliance on Mental Illness): Weekly Family Support Group every Tuesday at 5:30pm. NAMI P.E.A.C.E. Community Center, located at 124 S. Powell St., Suite D, Forest City. This group is for those who have family members who are dealing with mental illness.

Alcoholics Anonymous: Weekly Open Meetings: Mondays and Thursdays, 7pm. 1st Presbyterian Church, 438 W. Main St., Forest City.

Al-A-Non Family Groups: Patience AFG: Mondays, 7-8pm at Perry Moore House in Rutherfordton, 828-288-2767. Lake Lure AFG; Tuesdays, 7:30pm at Mountains Branch Library, 828-748-8583.
