NAMI South Mountains NC (National Alliance on Mental Illness): Weekly Family Support Group every Tuesday at 5:30pm. NAMI P.E.A.C.E. Community Center, located at 124 S. Powell St., Suite D, Forest City. This group is for those who have family members who are dealing with mental illness.

HOPE Grief Support Group: Free support group for any adult who has lost a loved one. Offered at the Hospice Annette Cash Whitaker Center of Living, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City. 828-245-0095.

Paws of Rutherford County: Offers low cost spay and neuter twice every month. Cats $25. Dogs $35. $10 rabies vaccine. Free pet food and dog houses for those in need. If you have a dog houses you would like to donate please call. If you need to re-home your pet or have a litter of puppies, we may be able to help.
