Friends of Agriculture Breakfasts

Meeting every 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7-8am at the 4-H Center; 135 Locust St., Columbus. Each breakfast features a speaker on areas of interest to our community of farmers, gardeners, and food enthusiasts. Sponsored by the Polk County Farm Bureau.

Yokefellow Client Service

In order to better serve our clients, Yokefellow Service Center will be closing Nov. 7-18, to allow for the transition from paper to digital files. We apologize for the inconvenience but are happy to assure you that this will allow us to serve the clients of Rutherford County in a more efficient manner. Dial 211 for a list of other agencies in the county, their hours and types of assistance. During this time, Yokefellow Thrift Store will remain open for shopping and donations.

Washburn Community Outreach Center

Well stocked with Fall and Winter clothing, ALL clothing will be sold for .25¢ each. We also have a great selection of household items, and various Christmas items. Keep in mind our food pantry will be available for Rutherford County residents. Open Thur., Fri., & Sat., Nov. 10-12, 9am-2pm. Mountains Branch Library

Presents: Nature to Art Kids' Discovery Programs. Natives in November, Thurs. Nov. 10, 3pm. We will learn about some history of Native Americans, symbols and their meanings, create some Native American inspired crafts, and games. We will also learn about one of their staple foods.

The New Hope Community MLK Committee

Invites all who want to join the MLK Choir for the upcoming 2017 MLK program. Choir rehearsal is scheduled for Nov. 11 & 18, 6-7:30pm at St. John AME Zion Church, 109 North Ridgecrest Ave. Rutherfordton. All are invited to join the choir.

Honoring Local African American Veterans

From the Civil War to post-Vietnam era, Sat. Nov. 12, exhibit opens at 11am and will include over 200 photos, documents, and artifacts. Programs begins at 12pm & will include a special salute to local Union & Confederate veterans. Lunch begins at 1pm. Sponsored by The African American Heritage Museum of Rutherford County. Depression and Dementia

Join us for a presentation that will review the signs and symptoms of depression, address the difficulty in recognizing depression in individuals with dementia and explain the importance of seeking appropriate treatment. Teen Talking Circle

A process and support group for girls 12 and up. Topics: developing self-confidence, understanding relationship boundaries, dealing with conflict and self-care for teenagers. Town of Forest City Events
