Rutherford County Humane Society Thrift Shop

Open Fri. & Sat., 10am-4pm for Feb and March. New items arriving weekly. Proceeds benefit the Rutherford County Humane Society, a no-kill, non-profit 501(C)(3) animal rescue organization. We accept donations of food and bedding supplies for dogs/cats waiting to be adopted. Donations are tax deductible. 828-625-1042. 305 Buffalo Creek Rd., Lake Lure.

On-going Book Sale

HOPE Support Group: Four week support group for any adult who has lost a loved one, Feb. 19 and 26 at 10:30am at First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Also, March 3, 10, 17 and 24, 6pm at the Annette Cash Whitaker Center of Living in Forest City. Call Hospice at 828-245-0095 to register.

 

Second Harvest Mobile Food Truck

Mobile Food Pantry

The Washburn Community Outreach Center will be sponsoring a Mobile Food Pantry through Second Harvest of Metrolina on Thurs. Feb. 26, 10am at South Mountain Christian Camp in Bostic. For more information please call 828-245-5603.

 

Country Breakfast 

Sat. Feb. 28, 7-10am at Whitehouse Community Center; 5408 Painters Gap Road, Union Mills. Adults: $6, kids: 6-12 $3, under 6 free. 

Fundraiser

Hundreds of children and youth need financial assistance to attend South Mountain Christian Camp each year, and this is an easy way to help raise funds to meet that need. Eat at Zaxby’s in Forest City, Tues. Feb. 24, 5-8pm. At the end of the event, 10% of all sales made during this time will be donated to SMCC. If you can’t make it to this event, but would like to make a donation, you can do so by mail to SMCC, PO Box 9, Bostic NC 28018. 

 

Rutherford County Senior Center

February is National Heart Health Month. Join us for a presentation on “Heart Health” Wed. Feb. 25, 10:30am with Speaker: Dr. Kersey. Screenings will be held before and after. Body Mass Index & Blood Pressures Screenings, 9:30am-10:15am and 11:30am-12:15pm. 193 Callahan Koon Rd., Spindale.

 

Hospice of Rutherford County 

Volunteer Training, March 16-19, 6-9pm at the Carolina Event & Conference Center, 374 Hudlow Rd., Forest City. Volunteer Opportunities Include: Patient/Family, Administrative, Resale Shops, Faith in Action, Veteran to Veteran, Special Events, Pet Therapy, Grounds/Maintenance, Dining Assistance, Cosmetology, Greeters, Hospice House Laundry Assistance and many more!

Coat Give Away

Domestic Violence Education/Support Group

Celebrate Recovery 

Is a recovery program based on principles from the 8 Beatitudes in Christ’s Sermon on the Mount. It is where people can safely work together in helping those dealing with all types of hurts, hang-ups or habits.
