Hands of Hope for Life
18th Annual Walk for Life Sat. April 16. Registration begins at 8am. Walk: 9am. 3 walk sites this year: Crestview Park, Rutherfordton, Corinth Baptist Church, Ellenboro, & Lake Lure Marina at the gazebo. 2-mile walk around all 3 sites. Proceeds go to “Hands of Hope for Life” so they can continue to help the women and babies of Rutherford and Polk County. Info; 828-247-4673.

GAL Program (Guardian ad Litem)
Advocates for abused & neglected kids in court. Need volunteers to be a voice for kids who find themselves the subject of court cases. We train. Info: James R. Volunteers Wanted
With a grassroots effort underway to open a Community Development Credit Union to serve Rutherford County, we are looking for volunteers to help with presentations to business, church, and civic groups, as well as collecting pledges from prospective members. “NSPS  Surveying USA Event”
March 19, 1pm @ Tri-City Mall, Forest City. The Southwestern Piedmont Chapter of the NC Society of Surveyors announces surveyors across the state will be hosting events in local communities to kick off the start of National Surveyor’s Week which starts March 20. The goal is to give the public an opportunity to observe local surveyors in the community. Anyone with a GPS unit (hand-held or otherwise) is welcome to join. Operation Medicine Drop

Operation Medicine Drop is a prescription drug take-back event that allows residents to turn in their unused/expired prescription & over the counter medications. Helps prevent accidental poisonings, drug abuse & groundwater contamination.
