GWRRA NC Chapter NC-P-2

Run Against Addiction

Moving Forward Community Prayer meetings held monthly. Thurs. May 7, 6pm at Frank West Park in Caroleen, which is located 1/2 mile from US 221A.

Women Democrats of Rutherford County

The regular monthly meeting will be held, Thurs. May 7, 7pm at Democratic Headquarters; 142 W. Main St., Forest City. Dessert will be served.

Bill's Creek VFD

Community Auxiliary, Spring Fundraiser, Sat. May 9, 7am-2pm. Breakfast & lunch, bake sale, plant sale, silent auction, etc. Proceeds benefit the VFD. 828-625-5517.

Finding the Calm Mom's Time Out: Fri. May 8, 10:30am-12pm Mountains Branch Library. Jessica Shepherd will talk about changes in you and your children's life to decrease stress and anxiety and find the calm. Childcare provided; refreshments will be served.

Buffet Breakfast

Sat. May 9, 7am-10am at Gilkey School Community Center. Adults: $6, kids 6-12 $3, 5 and under free. Full breakfast & trimmings. Proceeds goes to help rebuild the old School.

Chase Corner Ministries

$2 Bag Sale on clothes/shoes thru Sat. May 9, 8:30am- 2:30pm. Proceeds go back into the ministry of serving this community. 1604 Chase High Rd., Forest City (across from Chase High School).

Mother's Day Women Build

Rutherford County Library will offer the following computer classes in May. Free and open to any Rutherford County resident; limited to six seats per class. Mobile Food Pantry

The Washburn Community Outreach Center will sponsor a Mobile Food Pantry through Second Harvest Wed. May 13, 10am @ South Mountain Christian Camp; Bostic. First come first serve basis. 828-245-5603.

Historical, Memorial

The Lt. William Corbitt Camp 525 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will be holding a Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony at the Confederate Memorial Monument in Rutherfordton, May 9th, 3pm. Ceremony to include reading of the names of Rutherford Counties Confederate Veterans and the ringing of the bell. We invite all who are proud of their ancestors and heritage to attend. Camp 525 existed in the early 1920's and is being revived by local Confederate Veteran Descendants.

Union Mills Learning Center

Bluegrass & Arts Festival, May 15 & 16, 5pm. Music at 6pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. Children 12 and under get in free. Celebrate Recovery

Is a recovery program based on principles from the 8 Beatitudes in Christ's Sermon on the Mount. It is where people can safely work together in helping those dealing with all types of hurts, hang-ups, or habits. Celebrate Recovery meets every Monday at 6pm, Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 710 Mountain Creek Rd, Rutherfordton. 828-287-7159.
