Hospice Resale Shop 
Half-Price Sale: July 2-5 (closed July 4), 9:30am-5pm. Hospice of Rutherford County’s Resale Shop in Forest City is operated entirely as the result of gift-in-kind donations from patients and families and other generous donors committed to patient care. Proceeds ensure that anyone can access the 18-bed Hospice House regardless of ability to pay. Info, 828-248-9305.

Bat Cave Fire & Rescue 
Annual 4th of July BBQ, Sat. July 5th, 5pm-7:30pm at the firehouse. Come out and enjoy some good BBQ and delicious homemade desserts. The department recently was awarded an $8,000 matching grant from the state which helps small departments acquire necessary equipment. All proceeds from the BBQ will go to matching this grant money. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
 
Gilkey 4th of July Celebration

Rutherford County Humane Society Thrift Shop
All 4th of July week we will offer a beautiful collection of 40 + framed works of art. Many new arrivals. We will discontinue clothing after this week. Mobile Pantry

Fireworks Over Lake Lure
Sat. July 5th. Bring chairs and blankets to Morse Park. The beach will open at 8pm for viewing (no swimming) free of charge and the green space in front of and beside the 1927 Arcade Building will be open for viewing and picnics. Concessions will be available. Restaurants and many shops also will be open. The fireworks usually set off around 9-9:30pm. 
 
Rutherfordton 4th of July Festival
Rutherford Town Revitalization, in coordination with the Town of Rutherfordton and various sponsors and volunteers, will hold the town’s Fourth of July Festival and 3rd Annual “Race for the Gold” Adult Soapbox Derby on Fri. July 4th, 10am-3pm on Main St.
