Relay For Life
Rutherford County Relay For Life 18th Annual event  Friday, Sept. 5. Relay kicks off at 6pm at Chuck Summey Park on Vance Street Forest City. Join the hundreds of folks who are helping to finish the fight against cancer!

Road Clean Up
The Golden Valley Community Club is having a road clean up, Sat. Sept. 6, 9am. This is a great opportunity for students to log McNair volunteer hours. Everyone is welcome from age 12 and older. Those between the ages of 12 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult over 21. Vests, gloves and a hot dog lunch will be provided. Come join us to help make Golden Valley really GLOW! 828-245-2993.

Rockin’ Naturalist Guided Hikes
Saturdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27; 11am-12pm. Explore Chimney Rock’s trails with a Park naturalist or State Park Ranger to learn about plants, wildlife, geology and more along the way. Domestic Violence Education/Support Group: Women who are victims of domestic abuse, or who never want to become victims, are invited to a free Domestic Violence Education/Support Group which meets 2 hours each week on Tuesdays. Rutherford County Humane Society Thrift Shop
Open weekly Wed.-Sat., 10am-4pm. Selling loads of wonderful items for your home. We also accept donations of food and bedding supplies for dogs and cats waiting to be adopted. All proceeds benefit the Rutherford County Humane Society, a no-kill non-profit 501 (C) (3) animal rescue organization. Free Spay and Neuter
PAWS of Rutherford County and The Community Partnership for Pets (CPPI) in Henderson County have joined forces to offer free spay and neuter to any Pit Bull dog or Pit Bull mix dog in Rutherford County. We will spay or neuter every Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix for free. That includes a rabies shot, too. There is no income limit. There is no time limit on this offer.
