Daniel Glen "Dan" Melton, age 53

Daniel Glen "Dan" Melton, age 53 of Forest City passed away Monday, January 9, 2017.

Dan was born in Rutherford County on January 20, 1963 and was a son of the late Vernon Glen Melton who died in 1995. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, and a graduate of East Rutherford High School Class of 1981. He was the owner and operator of Melco Amusements and was well known across the state. Dan was a member of Forest City Masonic Lodge No. 381 AF&AM where he twice served as Master of the Lodge and was a Shriner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Mary Texie Melton and Tom and Emmie Hoyle.

Survivors include his mother, Cathy Melton Hoyle and husband Joel of Forest City, daughter, Danielle Melton and husband Justin Murray of Shelby, two sons, Daniel and Dane Melton both of Raleigh, two grandchildren, step-sister, Sherry Carson and husband Bennie of Forest City, and aunts, Mary Dee Melton and Louise Melton both of Forest City.

Funeral services were held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Ernie Holland officiating. Masonic rites were accorded by the Forest City Masonic Lodge.
