Members of the Griffith Rutherford Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, met March 15 to finalize plans for the Commemorative Recognition Ceremony honoring all Vietnam Era Veterans who served during the 20-year period Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975. This event is part of a National DAR sponsored program being held March 29 all over the nation. The event, which honors all who served regardless of their branch of service abroad or at home, will be held in Rutherford County as a drop-in event from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Veteran's Service Building, 303 Fairground Road in Spindale. The Chapter is assisted by the Rutherford County Department of Veteran Services and other military organizations of Rutherford County. All veterans will be given a proclamation signed by the President of the United States and will have the opportunity to fellowship with other veterans. Widows and widowers of veterans may receive the honor on their spouse's behalf. In the event of inclement weather the event will be moved to the National Guard Armory.
