The precious child of God, beloved wife, revered mother, sister, aunt, friend and follower of Jesus Christ, Diane Baker Allen, entered the gates of Heaven to celebrate eternally and worship her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 15, 2014.

Diane lived each day to the fullest. With an unselfish heart, she sacrificed personal desires to further the aspirations of others.

Diane was born in Rutherfordton, NC, on Dec. 12, 1959, to the late Clyde and Eulala Baker. She cared for them in life and now rejoices with them in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ted Allen; three children, Wade Allen, of Gastonia, and Richard Allen and Emmy Allen, of the home; brother, Clyde Baker Jr., of Forest City; aunt, June Phillips, of Columbus; mother-in-law, Eris S. Allen, of Rutherfordton; her husband’s aunt, Polly Nolan, of Forest City; sister-in-law and her husband, Jill and Albert Svrjcek, of Bel Air, Md.; nieces Lauren Svrjcek, of Baltimore, Md., and Rebecca Svrjcek, of Asheville; and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Singing in the sanctuary choir at First Baptist Church, Spartanburg, S.C., brought her great joy. She found encouragement and support in worshiping Jesus alongside friends and confidants. Sharing the joy found in having a personal relationship with Jesus was paramount.

She had many memorable qualities, this being one. You never met Diane without hearing the good news of Christ. She encouraged the downtrodden by leading countless people to relationships with Christ through church services, hospital stays, doctor’s office visits, and simply by being introduced to people.

She personified the adage, “Preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words.”

A lifetime homemaker, Diane devoted her life to raising her three children. She felt called by God to give birth and raise the offspring He blessed her with. They are left behind to cherish her memory and honor her legacy but will be reunited with her in Heaven.

After her children became of age, she began work at the Rutherford County Senior Center. It was there that she encouraged the elderly, shared a joyful spirit with the discouraged and helped feed thousands of people.

Celebration of Diane’s life was held at the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, S.C., the Reverend Dr. Donald J. Wilton and Reverend Sal Barone officiated.

A second visitation took place at the Padgett and King Mortuary, 227 E. Main St., Forest City, N.C. Private burial held at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery in Forest City.  In remembrance of Diane, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 250 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, S.C., 29306.

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
