Don Houston Harris, Sr., age 73

Don Houston Harris, Sr., age 73 of Forest City passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015.

He was born January 13, 1942 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Ralph Forest Harris and Annie Lee Crotts Harris. Don was a truck driver training instructor and examiner at Isothermal Community College for many years and was the founding Pastor of Mission of Faith Church in Forest City. During the Vietnam War, Don served in the United States Army serving two tours of duty attaining the rank of Sergeant. His beloved wife, Patricia Padgett Harris, and brother, Dan Harris preceded him in death.

Survivors include his fiancée, Shay Long and son, Matthew, his son, Don Houston Harris, Jr., and wife Sydney of Hickory, two daughters, Holly Harris Gaines and husband Jeramy of Spindale, NC, and Hope Harris Przybilla and husband Jason of Maple Grove MN, a sister, Jane Harris Campfield of Harris, NC and three grandchildren, Aryona, Ryan, and Marissa.

A graveside service was held in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Tony Greer officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
